Dr. Ahmet Tayfun Gurbuz received a comprehensive training and received certificates in general surgery and cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in the United States. In addition, he also passed the certifying examinations in Hacettepe University and received specialty certificates in General Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery after returning to Turkey.

Beating heart bypass surgery, mitral valve repair, surgery for atrial fibrillation and aortic root and aneurysm surgery are among his fields of interest in cardiac surgery. He specializes in aneurysms of abdominal and thoracic aorta, peripheral vascular disease (occlusive disease), carotid artery surgery as well as all aspects of endovascular surgery.

He has adopted the most recent techniques for treatment of lower extremity venous insufficiency (varicose veins) including the new endoluminal laser venous ablation surgery.

Dr. Gurbuz is also trained and US Board certified in Thoracic Surgery and thoracoscopy including surgery for recurrent pneumothorax with the thoracoscope as well as thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in hands and feet).

He is also trained and certified in the care of critically ill patient (surgical critical care) as well as trauma surgery and abdominal surgery including laparoscopic surgery as a part of General Surgery training in the US.

Dr. Gurbuz is also trained and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) in the United States and carries current certificates.
